More information on the Community Center:

How do we go about this?  Even though we are offering a “drop in” environment all participants must be registered with us with a community center drop-in registration form.  The forms are attached.  Participants will also be required to sign in and sign out.  Once signed in they may not leave and return. There are a few exceptions to this that will be spelled out in the list of expectations for participants.

Only grades 5-12? For now. Our new community center is for all members of the community. Our vision is to have a variety of programs and activities for all age – kids and adults.  However, the first thing we are trying to do is to open this drop-in center for these grades. Once that is up and running we will be expanding our offerings. Please keep in mind that we offer a myriad of programs for younger children and several adult offerings.  The age level we have had the hardest time reaching is the middle and high school level. This is where we have chosen to start.  Please, be patient.  And as always, we welcome your suggestions for programs and activities you would like to see offered here.

That seems like a wide age difference… It is.  Please keep in mind that the drop-in area will be supervised. Once we open and get a handle on those who are participating, we may schedule certain grades to attend on scheduled days. Our Youth Advisory Board recommended that we begin this way and we would like to see how their suggestions pan out.

Snow Days? Whether we are open when school is not in session due to inclement weather will depend on the severity of the weather.  Please listen to the radio – WLNH, WLKZ and WSCY – or check our newsline at 253-4160.

We are in need of more adult volunteers who will assist us in supervising the center – not just the drop-in area, but we are particularly in need of drop-in supervision at this point.  Please call the Rec. Dept to volunteer.

We are also looking for donations of card tables.  If you have one that you no longer use – and it actually stands up, give us a call.
